Reflections on the weekly readings

Sunday August 22, 2010 The 21st Sunday in Ordinary Time

Go out and tell all the World the Good News:  Universal acceptance into the Kingdom of God!

"They shall bring all your brothers and sisters from all the nations as an offering to the Lord,....Some of these I will take as Priests and Levites, says the Lord."  Isaiah 66:18-21

"And people will come from the east and the west and from the north and the south and will recline at table in the Kingdom of God.  For behold, some are last who will be first, and some are first who will be last."  Luke 13:22-30

Sunday August 15, 2010 The Assumption of Mary

Hail, Holy Queen

Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of mercy, our life, our sweetness and our hope. To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve. To thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy towards us. And after this our exile, show unto us the blessed Fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary. Pray for us, o Holy Mother of God, that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. Amen.

Sunday June 27, 2010 The 13th Sunday in Ordinary Time

I say, then: live by the Spirit and you will certainly not gratify the desire of the flesh.  For the flesh has desires against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; these are opposed to each other, so that you may not do what you want.  Gal 5:16-17
